Hanover VINELink Search Coverage
Pamunkey Regional Jail links its own victim-notification page to Virginia Jail VINE and VINELink. That local service receives custody events from participating jails. It can help locate a named Hanover County PRJ record, report the supplying facility’s custody wording, and register a user for available change notices. PRJ is a regional jail in Hanover, and it serves Hanover County, Caroline County, Ashland, and other localities. Match the facility and booking identity instead of assuming each PRJ result arose from a Hanover County charge.
Virginia Department of Corrections notification is separate. VADOC now describes its eligible victim-notification channel as NAAVI. It covers state-prison events, not local jail inmates and not people who are merely probationers or parolees. A person can move from PRJ into VADOC custody, which means the correct notification path can change mid-case. Jail VINE registration does not automatically become a VADOC registration.
The public VADOC Locator has another role. It searches state inmates and supervisees, including some people held in local or regional jails under state authority. It is updated daily, so it should not replace a time-sensitive Jail VINE alert. Use the locator to see whether a state record points to an institution or a probation and parole district, then seek official records when a signed release or discharge date is required.
- Jail VINE

- VINELink
- The public interface used to search a specific participating record and choose offered alerts.
- NAAVI
- VADOC’s distinct notification workflow for eligible state-corrections events.
- Transfer
- Movement to another facility or authority while custody continues.
Start Hanover VINELink Locally
Hanover County has an unusually clear official starting point. The PRJ victim-notification page sends users straight to VINELink. Beginning there provides stronger source provenance than starting with an aggregator or an unverified name-search result. It also helps identify the correct Hanover County jail layer before the search moves to state or federal systems.
The successful manifest capture below shows that PRJ-to-VINE route.
The image confirms the local connection. It does not mean every person ever held at PRJ remains searchable, nor does it turn VINELink into a certified Hanover release archive. Search results depend on the record and events sent by the participating provider.
Note: Use the PRJ link for local jail custody, then switch systems if an event identifies a state or federal transfer.
Search Hanover Inmates on VINELink
Search one Hanover County person at a time. A precise agency identifier is best, but name search can work when it is checked against other identity details. Do not select a record based on name alone. PRJ houses people connected to several jurisdictions, and common names can return more than one Virginia match. The facility name, age or birth details when shown, booking context, and case dates can help prevent a false match.
- Open PRJ’s official VINE bridge or the VINELink public search.
- Select Virginia and choose the person-search option.
- Enter the full name or available agency ID, using exact spelling first.
- Compare all returned matches and select the record tied to Pamunkey Regional Jail.
- Open the record and read the custody status, facility, event, and date labels exactly as displayed.
- Preserve the search date and time, then verify a key event with PRJ or the receiving authority.
The public entry is shown in the matching manifest capture below.
The screen illustrates the person-search starting point. A returned result must still be tied to the right individual and provider before its custody language is reported.
Read Hanover VINELink Release Results
Use the Hanover County interface result’s own terms. “In custody,” “released,” and “transferred” do not mean the same thing. A released event confirms what the supplying jail reported for its custody episode. It does not prove that no other agency assumed custody. A transfer directly signals that the person left one provider while confinement continued elsewhere. The event date also may differ from the time an alert arrived or the time someone opened the record.
| Result element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name or agency identifier | Matches the event to one person and custody record. |
| Custody status | States the provider’s current reported status in the interface. |
| Facility or provider | Shows which agency supplied the record being read. |
| Event type | Distinguishes release, transfer, or another custody change. |
| Event date | Dates the reported action, subject to provider updates. |
| Notification options | Shows the available phone, email, or text channels for that record. |
VINELink is useful near real time, but it is not the executed PRJ commitment/release record. If exact release time, disposition, or receiving agency is needed, call PRJ Booking/Release at 804-365-6400, extension 3043, or request the existing movement record. Court records can explain the legal action but may not show physical checkout time.
Read the provider name with the event. A PRJ release event ends that reported jail episode, while a later state record may show that VADOC custody began. Both events can be accurate. Keep each date tied to its own agency and do not collapse a local-jail event into a state-prison discharge. When the destination is unclear, PRJ’s release or movement disposition is the direct way to identify the next step.
Register Hanover Release Notifications
A Hanover County notification registration must attach to the correct person and provider record. Select only contact channels the interface offers. Phone, email, and text can differ by service or event. Use contact information you control. Never publish a PIN, reuse another person’s contact data, or assume one registration covers every later custody system.
- Open the verified PRJ person record and select “Get notified” or the current registration control.
- Choose an offered phone, email, or text channel.
- Enter and confirm the destination requested by the service.
- Create a telephone PIN when prompted and keep it private.
- Save the registration confirmation so the selected record and channel can be checked later.
- During an automated phone alert, enter the PIN to acknowledge the call and stop repeat calls.
An alert is a prompt to verify. Contact PRJ when an urgent local event arrives, especially if the notice says transfer or lacks a clear destination. If the person enters VADOC, follow the separate state workflow rather than waiting for Jail VINE to report later prison events.
Note: A phone PIN acknowledges the automated call; it does not serve as proof of the underlying release or transfer.
Hanover State Release Notifications
For a Hanover County state record, VADOC’s notification material includes transfer, advanced release, actual release, death, escape and return, work release, name changes, and parole events for eligible registrants. Advanced release is an anticipated notice and may change. Actual release means the person is no longer in VADOC physical custody, though probation or parole supervision may continue. The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator is the public search route for state custody and community-supervision results.
Use NAAVI or VADOC Victim Services at 800-560-4292 for the state notification workflow and current eligibility. A state-responsible person can still be housed at PRJ before turnover, so both local and state notices can concern different stages of the same case. The official workflow warns that the two systems are distinct. If VADOC later returns the person to a local jail, registration may be needed again with Jail VINE.
A VADOC institution result means state confinement continues. A district-office result can support that the person has left prison and is on community supervision. A no-result is not proof of full discharge because public coverage, identity mismatch, and update timing can affect the search. Historical proof comes from VADOC records and executed release documents.
Hanover VINELink Search Limits
A Hanover County VINELink search does not cover every system. It is not the federal Bureau of Prisons locator and cannot establish BOP release status. It is not ICE’s detainee locator. It is also not the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. A registry result applies only to a person with a legal duty to register and does not give the jail release reason or date.
For federal sentenced custody, use the official BOP Inmate Locator and federal court record. For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS and official case contacts. For a state prisoner, use the VADOC Locator and state records. For a former PRJ detainee, use the jail movement record, Jail VINE event, and Hanover court disposition. These routes answer different questions and should not be merged into one status.
The Hanover County released inmate search lays out the full custody-class decision path. It is the better route when the current holder is unknown, while VINELink remains focused on one participating person record and its alerts.
Confirm Hanover VINELink Events
Start a Hanover County check with the positive event, not an absence. “No result found” can reflect spelling, identifier error, a provider change, update lag, restricted data, or the limits of public coverage. Try a verified agency ID and careful name variants. If no result remains, check the correct facility and agency rather than writing that the person was released.
When VINELink reports release, record the exact provider, status words, event date, and observation time. Then ask PRJ whether its movement entry records community release or another agency destination. When the court granted bond, confirm that the bond was posted and the jail executed release. When an event reports transfer, search the receiving system before stating where the person is.
The strongest proof of physical release is an executed agency movement or release record. A provider-reported VINE event and a current receiving or supervising agency result are useful next layers. Court orders establish authority and outcome but can precede physical processing. Keeping those roles separate makes a Hanover County VINELink inmate search precise.
